Youth Talent School Wrestling
Our wrestling program welcomes children grades K - 8. Wrestling is a great sport for children to participate in. It builds character, discipline, sportsmanship, self-confidence, mental and physical strength.
Led by Alex Motorny and assisted by Jeffrey Sherman, the captain of the Marblehead/Swampscott wrestling team, our wrestling program focuses on building the skills and qualities essential for becoming a strong and confident individual and for excelling in the high-school and college wrestling competitions.
Alex Motorny started learning freestyle wrestling at the age of 6 at the Club Lokomotiv in Kiev, Ukraine. He became twice the champion of Kiev in freestyle wrestling at the age of 13 and 14 and he achieved the third place in the all Ukrainian nationals at the age of 13. Thereafter Alex attended the wrestling program at the Keene high school, in Keen, NH. There he became the New Hampshire wrestling state champion in 1993 & 1994, a third place champion at the New England wrestling tournament in 1994 and the second place champion at the New England free style open tournament in 1994. Same year Alex was awarded the New Hampshire Outstanding Wrestler award.
Alex and his assistants present the fundamentals of wrestling in a fun and friendly setting, where children develop motor skills, learn good sportsmanship, improve self-confidence, and prepare for high-school wrestling. The program teaches basic and advanced techniques of folkstyle wrestling, such as: top and bottom positions, take downs and moves from each position.
